Thorn Baker Industrial Recruitment are recruiting for Refuse Loaders and Waste Operatives to work with a local council across Chesterfield / Sheffield.
This is a physically demanding, outdoor role ideal for candidates with experience in labouring, waste collection, recycling, or other hands-on roles.
Refuse Loader Duties:
Collecting household waste and recycling bins
Loading refuse and recycling into collection vehicles
Working as part of a waste collection team
Completing daily collection routes
Supporting street cleansing and environmental services
Manual handling and lifting throughout the shift
Walking long distances (up to 20,000 steps per day)
Requirements:
Experience in labouring, warehouse, refuse collection, or outdoor work preferred
Physically fit and able to carry out manual handling
Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Reliable and able to commit to full-time hours
Full UK Driving Licence required - need to commute to site for early starts
PPE required (safety boots and hi-vis)
Hours & Pay:
£12.71 (increasing to £13.05 after 13 weeks service)
37–42 hours per week
06.30am-3.00pm (potential requirement for 07.00am-4.00pm whilst training)
Ongoing, full-time work for 26–38 weeks
