How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    In a period of exciting opportunity and growth, ES Group has an exciting position to work across its two main trading businesses who are well established in their fields. This individual will have the capability to develop their systems, aid with integration and enhance their back-office function.

    The Group boasts a business with a fantastic track record across the UK's Steel installation industry, and one of the North-West's leading Engineering & Manufacturing recruitment businesses. We are looking for a newly qualified and experienced Management Accountant looking to take the step up to Financial Controller. Their time will be split between producing the month end reporting suite, leading system upgrade and integration projects, and working with the operational teams to help with commercial opportunities.

    The role will have full support and guidance from a highly commercial Finance Director, whilst also becoming the key point of contact with external stakeholders such as auditors and insurance brokers etc.

    ES Steel is an expanding steel installation and project management specialist delivering complex construction projects within the Energy and Defence sectors, with a strong specialism in the nuclear sector. For over 25 years, we've supported large-scale Defence projects and bespoke nuclear installations across multiple UK licensed sites.

    Key Responsibilities

    Production of the monthly Management Accounts for 2 trading companies & consolidated group accounts for review by board to include:

    Financial planning and analysis (FP&A), including forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow management.
    Cashflow forecasting, modelling and management for new construction contracts.
    Produce monthly financial statements and board pack.
    Produce quarterly forecasts.
    Produce annual budgets for all entities
    Balance sheet reconciliations
    Overhead cost splits between the 2 trading companies
    Completion, validation, and submission of quarterly VAT returns
    Liaison with company auditors during on site audit visit and subsequent requests for information
    Leading the selection and implementation of a replacement accounts system with construction bias to upgrade our current Sage 200/Construct package and develop for future business requirements.
    Continuous improvement of all financial reporting and internal controls.
    Manages external stakeholder relationships such as banks, funders, insurers, auditors etc.

    Skills, Knowledge & Experience

    ACCA/CIMA qualified, or close to completion. QBE will also be considered.

    Advanced Excel skills

    Excellent communication skills

    Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage workloads effectively.

    A high level of I.T. literacy including experience in implementing new systems would be beneficial.

    Must have previous experience producing management accounts to final review level.
