    Job description

Job Title: Teaching Assistant (SEN Schools)
    Location: South Birmingham
Contract Type: Full-time / Part-time (flexible opportunities available)

    About the School:
Our SEN schools in South Birmingham are inclusive, nurturing environments dedicated to supporting children and young people with a wide range of additional needs. We pride ourselves on creating a safe, structured, and welcoming atmosphere where every pupil is valued, respected, and encouraged to achieve their full potential.

The schools cater for students with diverse needs, including autism spectrum conditions (ASC), moderate to severe learning difficulties (MLD/SLD), and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges. Class sizes are small, allowing for personalised learning and strong relationships between staff and pupils.

Our experienced and passionate staff teams work collaboratively to deliver tailored support, combining academic learning with life skills, emotional development, and independence. We use a range of specialist approaches, including sensory learning, communication support strategies, and positive behaviour management techniques.

The schools are well-resourced, with dedicated spaces such as sensory rooms, therapy areas, and outdoor learning environments designed to enhance pupil engagement and wellbeing.

We are committed to continuous professional development and provide ongoing training to ensure our staff feel confident, supported, and equipped to meet the needs of every learner.

Above all, our schools are communities where patience, understanding, and encouragement are at the heart of everything we do.

    About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team working within SEN schools across South Birmingham. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people with a range of additional needs, including autism, learning disabilities, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.

    Key Responsibilities:

    *

Support pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups, tailored to their individual learning needs

    *

Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons

    *

Help implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies

    *

Foster a safe, positive, and nurturing learning environment

    *

Support pupils with personal care where required

    *

Encourage independence, confidence, and social development

    Requirements:

    *

Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN (preferred but not essential)

    *

A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach

    *

    Strong communication and teamwork skills

    *

A proactive attitude and willingness to learn

    *

Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3, or equivalent) are desirable

    What We Offer:

    *

    Ongoing training and professional development

    *

    Supportive and collaborative working environments

    *

    Opportunities for career progression

    *

Flexible working options to suit your availability

    *

The chance to make a meaningful impact every day

    How to Apply:
If you are passionate about supporting children with special educational needs and want to be part of a dedicated team, we would love to hear from you
