How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Job Title: Head Chef
    Reports To: Home Manager
    Location: Norwich

    About the RoleAs a Head Chef, you will play a vital role in delivering nutritious, well-balanced meals while maintaining exceptional culinary standards. You will be responsible for leading the kitchen team, overseeing food preparation, planning menus, and ensuring full compliance with health and safety regulations.
    This position also involves creating a positive dining experience, catering to individual dietary needs, and maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment. You will take ownership of staff training and development, ensuring best practices in food safety and hygiene are consistently upheld.

    Key Responsibilities
    Lead and manage the kitchen team to deliver high-quality meals
    Plan and develop menus that meet nutritional and dietary requirements
    Ensure compliance with all health and safety and food hygiene regulations
    Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organised kitchen environment
    Monitor food quality, presentation, and portion control
    Train, supervise, and support kitchen staff
    Work collaboratively with other departments to enhance resident satisfaction
    Manage time effectively to ensure efficient kitchen operations
    Skills and Attributes
    Proven experience as a Head Chef or Executive Chef in a similar setting
    Strong knowledge of nutrition, dietary needs, and food safety standards
    Excellent leadership and team management abilities
    Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment
    Effective time management and ability to work under pressure
    Solid understanding of health and safety regulations and procedures
    Experience in training and developing kitchen staff
    Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and varied shifts
    Education and Qualifications
    NVQ Level 3 in Catering or equivalent qualification (desirable)
