How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Pastoral Mentor - Secondary School with Sixth Form - Newham

    Full Time | Term Time Only | ASAP Start
    Long Term Role (Temp to Perm) | Competitive Daily Rate

    Long Term Futures are recruiting a dedicated Pastoral Mentor to join a secondary school with sixth form in Newham, supporting students across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5.

    This is a varied role combining pastoral support and Learning Support Assistant responsibilities, ideal for someone who can support students both emotionally and academically. You will work closely with teaching staff, Heads of Year and SEN teams to ensure students are fully supported in accessing the curriculum and achieving positive outcomes.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Provide 1:1 and small-group pastoral support across KS3-KS5
    Support students with behaviour, engagement and emotional wellbeing
    Assist in lessons as an LSA, supporting learning across subjects
    Work closely with Heads of Year, SEN staff and teaching teams
    Support students during lessons, interventions and unstructured times
    Promote positive behaviour, attendance and inclusion

    Ideal Candidate Will Have:

    Experience in a pastoral, behaviour or LSA role within a school setting
    Confidence working across secondary and sixth form (KS3-KS5)
    A calm, proactive and supportive approach
    Strong communication and relationship-building skills
    Understanding of safeguarding and inclusive practice
    Background in SEN, mentoring, youth work or education (desirable)
