Ripon area | £35,000-£40,000 DOE

Are you, from a plant, agricultural, HGV, construction machinery, MOD or heavy equipment background?

A well-established and highly reputable engineering business in the Ripon area is looking for a skilled Fitter to join their growing team.

This is an ideal role for engineers with hands-on experience working on tractors, telehandlers, excavators, HGVs, military vehicles, or other heavy-duty mechanical systems.

The Role

You will carry out service, diagnostics, repairs and planned maintenance on a wide range of agricultural and plant machinery, both in the workshop and on customer sites.
Repairing and maintaining machinery such as diggers, tractors, combines, telehandlers and loaders
Diagnosing faults, repairing mechanical issues and replacing worn or damaged parts
Conducting full services: oil changes, bearing checks, belts, hoses, tyres, fluid levels etc.
Completing PPM to manufacturer standards
Travelling to local customer sites to carry out repairs and breakdown support
Participating in an on‑call rota for emergency repairsWhat We're Looking For:

Background in MOD/Forces mechanical engineering, agricultural, plant, HGV, construction, mining or similar heavy equipment maintenance

Ideally some welding & fabrication experience (grinding, plasma cutting etc.)
Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical & hydraulic systems
Ability to use diagnostic equipment and manufacturer service portals
Confident operating tractors, plant or heavy machinery (ideal but not essential)
Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Full UK driving licence
Good customer service skills and the ability to work independentlyBenefits
