How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

This is a General Operative role where you’ll be part of the engine room of food production - keeping operations moving, supporting high daily output, and building practical skills that can open the door to long-term manufacturing careers.

If you want steady work, full training, and the chance to develop hands-on skills in a fast-paced production environment, this opportunity puts you right at the heart of a growing food manufacturing operation.

Starting pay of £12.71 per hour with opportunities for skill-based pay increases
Full on-the-job training on production equipment and manufacturing processes
Temp-to-perm opportunity after 26 weeks for long-term stability
Free on-site parking and easy access via local transport routes
Opportunity to gain skills in meat production, equipment operation, and food safety
Clear progression opportunities as skills and responsibilities grow
    Your responsibilities as General Operative

Support production across multiple areas of the manufacturing process
Operate machinery such as grinders, mixers, and blenders following training
Help maintain production flow to meet daily output targets
Follow food safety, hygiene, and health & safety procedures at all times
Maintain clean and organised workspaces across the production floor
Assist teams across departments where production demand requires
What we’re looking for in a General Operative

Previous experience in food manufacturing, production, or factory environments
Knowledge of food safety and hygiene procedures within production settings
Experience operating or assisting with industrial food processing equipment
Ability to follow documented production processes and safety procedures
Experience working with raw meat or meat processing environments
    Working hours
Minimum 40 hours per week across 5 consecutive days. Weekend working (Saturday and Sunday) required. Shifts typically range from approximately 6 to 10 hours depending on production demand. No night shifts.
