How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Pre‑Construction Manager / assistant quantity surveyor
    Rate: £24-£28 per hour + holiday pay (equivalent to £50-55k salary benchmark)
    Location: Primarily desk‑based, with occasional visits to an RAF base
    Contract length: 3months +

Does the idea of crafting complex, methodical, highly detailed bills of quantities genuinely make you happy?If so… this role is absolutely for you.We are seeking an exceptionally detail‑driven Pre‑Construction Manager to create linear bills of quantities for a large programme of works, based on completed building surveys. This is a highly technical, analytical and desk‑focused role - perfect for someone who thrives on structure, precision and data accuracy.
    About the RoleYou will be responsible for building comprehensive linear bills for each works order generated from building survey outputs. Each bill is highly complex and typically takes 2-3 weeks to complete, requiring a patient, thorough and methodical approach.This role is entirely desk‑based - ideal for someone who prefers structured technical work over site activity. While day‑to‑day duties are office‑based, you will initially attend an RAF base for onboarding and may visit on an ad‑hoc basis thereafter.
    What You'll Be Doing

    Creating detailed, accurate linear bills of quantities for all works orders.
    Analysing large volumes of survey data and translating findings into structured pricing documents.
    Working extensively in spreadsheets - this is a data‑intensive, highly analytical role.
    Ensuring absolute accuracy, consistency and clarity in every bill created.
    Collaborating with the wider pre‑construction and technical teams to ensure outputs meet programme needs.
    Maintaining version control, audit trails and a high standard of document formatting.What We're Looking ForIf you have a construction background and have these key skills, then this role will suit you. You do not have to be a qualified or experienced quantity surveyor. You could be a Plumber or an Architect! But you need to have the following skills:
    ✅ A spreadsheet enthusiast - confident, working on complex Excel models all day, every day.✅ Highly analytical, logical and methodical✅ Obsessed with detail and accuracy✅ Comfortable working independently on long, technical tasks✅ Experienced in a construction related field✅ Able to interpret survey data and translate it into structured work packages
    And ideally have experience in:

    Producing bills of quantities, linear bills or pricing schedules
    Pre‑construction or estimating workflows
    Construction or building‑related data analysis
    Reviewing condition survey outputsWhat's on Offer
