    Job description

    Nocturnal Recruitment are currently seeking an experienced Early Years Practitioner to support young children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in Camden.

    This role focuses on providing active, hands-on support for young children through play based and sensory activities. The role requires staff to be physically active and engaged on the floor with children, supporting their development, communication and social interaction.

    You will work closely alongside a Key Worker and wider team to provide consistent, nurturing support and help children access meaningful play and developmental opportunities.

    The Role

    * Provide direct support to toddlers with SEND through play based, sensory and developmental activities.

    * Engage actively with children through floor-based play, movement and interaction that supports early learning and development.

    * Work alongside a Key Worker to implement individual support plans and contribute to monitoring children’s progress.

    * Support children with a range of needs including developmental delay, autism, physical disabilities and complex needs.

    * Promote communication, social interaction and independence through structured and free play activities.

    * Support daily routines and assist with personal care where required while maintaining dignity and safety.

    * Create a safe, stimulating and inclusive environment for children to explore and develop.

    * Work collaboratively with colleagues and professionals to ensure a consistent approach to supporting each child.

    * Maintain clear observations and records in line with safeguarding and organisational procedures.

    Location & Working Pattern

    Full time: 30 hours per week

    Monday to Friday: 9:00 am – 3:00 pm

    Please note: Condensed hours or part time working cannot be considered for this role.

    Requirements

    * NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care, Early Years, Childhood Studies or a related qualification.

    * Experience supporting toddlers or young children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

    * Ability to work in a physically active role, including sitting, kneeling and engaging in floor-based play.

    * Understanding of early years child development, including communication, sensory and social development.

    * Ability to work alongside a Key Worker and within a multidisciplinary team.

    * Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and safe care practices for young children with additional needs.

    * Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with children and families.

    * Enhanced DBS check.
