    Job description

    Electrical Engnieer / Electromechancial Engineer

    Location: Crewe, Cheshire

    Hours: 36 hours per week Day rota only Monday–Friday | Day Shift (07:00–16:00 or 08:00–17:00)

    Salary: 42k-50k + Bonus + Excellent Benefits

    We are looking for a Technical Operations Associate (Electromechanical Engineer / Automation Engineer) to support the maintenance and reliability of highly automated warehouse systems within a modern logistics environment.

    In this mechatronics-focused role, you will be responsible for fault-finding, repair, and maintenance of electromechanical equipment across an automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS). Working within a small team of engineers, you will play a key role in ensuring maximum equipment availability, operational efficiency, and safety.

    This role suits an engineer with strong electrical and electromechanical expertise, experience within automated environments, and a proactive mindset focused on problem-solving and continuous improvement.

    The Role

    As a Technical Operations Associate, you will:

    • Diagnose and resolve electromechanical faults across automated storage and retrieval systems (ASRS), including stacker cranes, chain conveyors, roller conveyors, and in-line automation equipment

    • Carry out repairs and corrective actions, including equipment resets, component replacement, adjustments, and practical engineering solutions

    • Apply structured electrical fault-finding techniques across complex systems

    • Provide support for automation control systems and PLC networks, assisting with troubleshooting where possible

    • Coordinate and manage external contractors, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and to site standards

    • Conduct planned preventative maintenance (PPM) to maximise asset reliability and performance

    • Manage spare parts inventory to ensure efficient maintenance operations

    • Maintain high engineering housekeeping standards across equipment and work areas

    • Support engineering administration including service records, risk assessments, and documentation

    • Assist with technical projects, equipment trials, and continuous improvement initiatives

    • Work collaboratively with internal teams to support fault-finding and operational problem-solving

    • Promote and adhere to a strong Health & Safety culture at all times

    Requirements

    To be successful in this role you will need:

    • Five GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above, including Maths and English (or equivalent)

    • Level 3 NVQ in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) – essential

    • Current IET Wiring Regulations (18th Edition or equivalent)

    • Experience working with automation, robotics, or material-handling systems in an industrial or manufacturing environment

    • Ability and willingness to work at height

    • Basic understanding of PLC systems or automation controls

    • Ability to diagnose electrical and mechanical faults using logical troubleshooting methods

    • Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings

    • Competence using hand and power tools safely

    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

    • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

    • Good IT literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

    Desirable Skills

    The following would be advantageous:

    • HNC/HND/ONC in Electrical, Mechanical, or Electromechanical Engineering

    • Experience with PLC communications or controls engineering within automated warehouses

    • Working at Height / CRD Rescue training

    • IPAF and/or FLT licence

    • Additional automation or electromechanical engineering qualifications
