    About Our Schools

Our schools in Blackpool and Fylde are inclusive, vibrant learning communities dedicated to providing an education that excites and empowers children to be the best people they were meant to be. Our fundamental belief is that each child is unique and loved, and we work tirelessly to develop a strong sense of worth in every pupil.

When you apply, you will be matched to a school based on your location and specific skill set. Whether you are a specialist in Early Years (EYFS) or have a background in complex SEN, we ensure you are placed in an environment where you can help children lead happy, dignified, and purposeful lives.

The Role: Special Support Assistant (1:1)

Our schools are seeking patient, nurturing individuals to provide dedicated support for pupils with varied Special Educational Needs (SEN) and learning difficulties. These roles vary in intensity based on the child's specific EHCP requirements.

    Opportunities include:

Non-Verbal Support: Intensive 1:1 support for children with significant communication barriers, often requiring sensory-led engagement and alternative communication tools.

Cognition & Attention Support: Mild "side-by-side" assistance for pupils who need help with focus, task-switching, and breaking down learning into manageable steps.

Developmental Bridging: Supporting Key Stage 1/2 pupils who may be cognitively recognised at an EYFS or younger levels due to medical or developmental conditions.

    Key Responsibilities

Tailored Interaction: Acting as a dedicated learning partner, whether providing total communication support or gentle prompts for attention.

Curriculum Adaptation: Translating classroom topics into accessible play-based activities or visual schedules suitable for the child's cognitive stage.

Phonics & Literacy: Utilising Read Write Inc. or sensory-based phonics to encourage literacy and communication.

EHCP Implementation: Working with the SENDCO to meet specific targets ranging from social-emotional milestones to academic progress.

    Requirements & Preferred Skills

Experience: Proven experience as an SEN TA, Early Years Practitioner, or Special Support Assistant.

Preferred Knowledge: Experience with the Read Write Inc. Phonics programme and EYFS Frameworks is highly valued.

Communication: Proficiency in Makaton, PECS, or Visual Timetables is a significant advantage for non-verbal roles.

Attributes: A proactive, patient nature with a commitment to our schools' inclusive missions.

Why Join Our Blackpool & Fylde Network?

Personalised Placement: We match you with a pupil profile (from mild support to non-verbal) that suits your comfort level and experience.

Professional Growth: Free access to 2,500+ CPD courses (including Autism, ADHD, and Behaviour Management) via the National College.

Competitive Pay: Weekly pay at highly competitive rates with full AWR protection.
