The Role
We’re seeking an experienced Metrology Inspector to join our quality team and play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our components and assemblies. In this position, you will carry out precise dimensional and visual inspections in line with engineering drawings, inspection control plans, and the Quality Management System (QMS). Your work will help verify that parts meet required specifications and quality standards before progressing into production or assembly.
Working closely with the Lead Quality Inspector, you will support the day-to-day inspection activities within the Inspection Laboratory, maintaining strong measurement discipline and adherence to established processes. By delivering accurate, repeatable, and reliable inspection results, you will contribute to the effectiveness of our measurement systems and help uphold the high standards expected across our manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities
Inspection & Measurement:
* Perform dimensional and visual inspections of components and assemblies using approved methods, procedures, and measurement equipment.
* Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to determine inspection requirements and measurement methods.
* Execute inspection activities in accordance with defined inspection control plans, procedures, and work instructions.
* Accurately record, verify, and report inspection results in laboratory systems and documentation to ensure full traceability.
* Identify, document, and escalate non-conforming components, measurement issues, or potential drawing improvements to the Lead Quality Inspector.
Metrology Equipment Operation:
* Operate Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), portable measurement systems, and manual measurement equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures.
* Perform measurements using tools such as verniers, micrometers, height gauges, and optical measurement systems including shadowgraphs.
* Ensure proper use, handling, and care of all metrology equipment to maintain measurement accuracy and reliability.
Quality Systems & Measurement Control:
* Support Measurement System Analysis (MSA) and Gage Repeatability & Reproducibility (Gage R&R) studies as directed by the Lead Quality Inspector.
* Maintain accurate inspection records and documentation in line with the Quality Management System and laboratory procedures.
* Ensure inspection activities comply with internal quality standards and applicable industry standards.
Laboratory Standards & Continuous Improvement:
* Maintain clean, controlled, and organised inspection areas in line with 5S workplace standards and laboratory best practices.
* Contribute to improvements in inspection methods, fixturing, and measurement documentation.
* Participate in error-proofing initiatives and the digitalisation of inspection processes within the laboratory.
* Always Adhere to the Quality Management System and Laboratory Manual.
Experience & Qualifications
Essential
* NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, or demonstrable relevant experience.
* Experience in dimensional inspection within automotive, aerospace, or precision manufacturing environments.
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
* Hands-on experience with precision measurement equipment including verniers, micrometers, height gauges, and shadowgraphs.
Desirable
* Experience using Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM).
* Exposure to portable measurement systems such as FARO arms or laser scanners.
* Understanding of quality management systems such as International Organization for Standardization ISO 9001 or IATF 16949.
