How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Mechanical Design Engineers - Multiple Levels
    Location: Burton-on-Trent
    Type: Permanent, Full Time

    A global engineering and manufacturing organisation is expanding its product development team and is looking to recruit Mechanical Design Engineers at three levels: Design Engineer, Senior Mechanical Engineer, and Principal Design Engineer.

    These roles will support the design and development of advanced mechanical and power system components, working on projects from concept through to production within a fast-paced engineering environment.

    The Opportunity
    You will join a multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for the design, development and validation of complex mechanical components and assemblies used in heavy-duty applications. Depending on experience, you will contribute to or lead activities across new product development, concept design and product improvement programmes.

    Key Responsibilities

    Design mechanical components and assemblies from concept through to production

    Create and manage 3D CAD models, engineering drawings and bills of materials

    Apply GD&T and robust design principles to precision components

    Carry out engineering calculations and basic analysis such as tolerance stacks and bolted joints

    Produce technical documentation and validation reports

    Support new product introduction and product improvement projects

    Work closely with manufacturing, quality and purchasing teams

    Mentor junior engineers and support best practice (Senior level)

    Provide technical leadership across projects (Principal level)

    Experience Required

    Design Engineer

    Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar

    Experience with 3D CAD such as Siemens NX or similar

    Understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes

    Experience producing engineering drawings and applying GD&T

    Senior Mechanical Engineer

    Typically 5+ years mechanical design experience

    Experience designing complex mechanical assemblies

    Strong knowledge of GD&T and manufacturing processes

    Ability to solve technical problems and support junior engineers

    Principal Design Engineer

    Typically 10+ years design engineering experience

    Experience leading engineering activities or teams

    Strong background in complex mechanical systems design

    Ability to guide technical direction and support multidisciplinary teams
