How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Parkinson Gray Associates delivers a proven service to some of the leading Consulting Engineering and Contracting businesses within the British construction industry, predominantly across the Building Services, Energy and Sustainability sectors.

Are you an experienced electrical building services designer looking to make a real impact? This is your opportunity to join a close-knit, independently owned consultancy where your ideas matter, your growth is supported, and your contribution truly counts.

Founded in 2010, our client is a well-established, independently owned multidisciplinary design consultancy based in Greater Manchester. With a strong reputation for delivering high-quality, innovative engineering solutions, they’ve grown steadily by focusing on what truly matters: technical excellence, close client relationships, and a people-first approach to design.

They work across a wide range of sectors, including commercial, education, healthcare, residential, industrial, and heritage, giving their engineers the chance to work on varied and meaningful projects that shape real communities.

Their in-house expertise covers Mechanical, Electrical, Public Health, Sustainability, and 3D Revit design, allowing them to deliver integrated, efficient, and future-focused building services from concept through to completion.

What makes them different? It’s their culture - They’re a tight-knit, collaborative team where everyone’s input is valued - no layers of bureaucracy or corporate red tape. The environment is friendly, supportive, and relaxed, without sacrificing technical rigour or ambition. You’ll work alongside passionate professionals who believe in doing great work, sharing knowledge, and enjoying what they do.

If you’re looking for a workplace where you can work closely with talented professionals, see the results of your contributions, and enjoy coming to work each day, this is a rare and rewarding opportunity.

    Location: West of Greater Manchester

Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 (depending on the experience)

    The Role

As Senior Electrical Building Services Designer, you’ll lead the design and coordination of electrical systems across diverse projects. You’ll play a central role in delivering efficient, sustainable, and technically sound solutions, while mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

This is a great fit for someone who enjoys hands-on project involvement, values collaboration over formality, and wants to grow within a people-first consultancy.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Lead the design of electrical building services from concept to completion.

    * Collaborate with Mechanical, Public Health, Sustainability, and BIM teams to deliver integrated design solutions.

    * Produce technical drawings, specifications, calculations, and schedules using Revit, AutoCAD, and industry-standard tools.

    * Liaise with clients, contractors, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure project goals are met.

    * Mentor junior engineers and help develop in-house expertise.

    * Contribute to design reviews and problem-solving sessions with fresh, innovative thinking.

    * Keep up to date with current standards, technologies, and best practices in the industry.

    * Promote a positive, inclusive, and team-oriented working environment.

    Essential Skills and Experience:

    * Degree in Electrical Engineering / Building Services (or equivalent experience).

    * A minimum of 5 years UK-based building services experience (consultancy or contractor side).

    * Strong technical knowledge in Electrical Engineering Design and knowledge of current standards and legislations.

    * Proficiency in electrical calculation software packages (Amtech, Dialux, Relux), AutoCAD.

    * Proficiency with Revit/BIM, AutoCAD, and calculation software.

    * Confident communicator and team player.

    * Ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects effectively.

    * Passion for mentoring and sharing knowledge.

    * UK work eligibility, full driving licence, and access to a vehicle.

    Why Join This Team?

    * Collaborative culture – no egos, just passionate professionals working together.

    * Room to grow – your career progression is taken seriously here.

    * Variety & exposure – work on diverse projects across sectors and disciplines.

    * Team socials – regular social events to connect and unwind.

    * Free parking

    * 25 days holiday + bank holidays

This is an ideal role for a technically strong electrical designer who wants to step out of the corporate maze and into a consultancy where you’ll be recognised, supported, and empowered.

If you’re ready to bring your expertise to a team that values collaboration, creativity, and engineering excellence, please apply now. All applicants must be eligible to work and live in the UK
