    Job description

Fortress Recruit is now seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join a dynamic team delivering asset management and infrastructure solutions in the maritime and defence sector.

This role is a combination of hands-on surveying with technical leadership, allowing you to influence long-term asset management strategies.

    Key responsibilities:

    * Lead structural inspections and appraisals across a variety of buildings and structures, including historic buildings, concrete frames, steel structures, masts, and towers.

    * Produce detailed reports, specifications, feasibility assessments, and cost estimates.

    * Provide expert advice to multidisciplinary teams, clients, and contractors.

    * Manage delivery of remedial works programmes, ensuring quality, timelines, and budget compliance.

    * Maintain accurate asset records and reporting in line with statutory requirements and H&S standards.

    * Navigate building regulations, statutory requirements, and health & safety legislation.

To be considered for this role, you'll have:

    * Chartered Engineer status (CEng) with IStructE or ICE membership (or with Chartership in progress)

    * Strong experience in structural engineering, surveying, or FM environments.

    * Knowledge of building construction, pathology, and condition surveys.

    * Ability to produce thorough reports, appraisals, and specifications.

    * Excellent communication and organisational skills.

    * Health & Safety training (IOSH, NEBOSH or equivalent).

    * Eligibility for SC clearance (5 years' UK residency without visa or sponsorship requirement).

This is a role where technical expertise meets leadership and influence. You’ll be shaping the management of high-value assets, engaging with clients and multidisciplinary teams, and contributing to projects that directly support the UK’s naval infrastructure.

The role is based in Portsmouth and on offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.
