How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

The environment is dynamic, with rapid developments across consumer credit, payments, digital services and wider regulatory frameworks. A proactive, structured approach to knowledge management is essential.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Create, maintain and distribute high‑quality legal knowledge resources for the legal team and relevant business areas.
    • Cover established and emerging topics, including payments regulation, open banking, digital financial services and consumer credit.

    Business-Facing Communications

    • Partner with Legal, Compliance and Risk teams to communicate legal and regulatory developments.
    • Prepare concise updates, deliver briefings and support training initiatives for business stakeholders.

    Team Leadership

    • Lead and support a small team of subject‑matter experts.
    • Foster professional development and ensure the team’s expertise is effectively leveraged across the wider legal function.

    Regulatory Horizon Scanning

    • Monitor legal and regulatory changes affecting the customer journey, including consumer protection, payments, technology, cyber risk, competition law and related areas.
    • Assess potential impacts and support strategic planning.

    Training & Capability Building

    • Identify training needs within the legal team and the business.
    • Design and deliver practical, accessible training on legal and regulatory requirements.

    Policy & Strategic Input

    • Provide legal insight on areas of strategic importance, including engagement with regulatory or policy developments.

    External Engagement

    • Liaise with industry bodies, professional associations and external advisers where appropriate.

    Knowledge Systems & Processes

    • Develop and maintain systems for capturing, organising and sharing legal know‑how, including precedents, guidance and historical advice.
    • Ensure resources are user‑friendly and easily accessible.

    Candidate Profile

    • Qualified solicitor with approximately 5–10 years’ PQE (guideline only).
    • Experience within financial services or advising financial services clients.
    • Strong understanding of UK consumer credit and financial services regulation, ideally including the Consumer Credit Act, payment services and financial crime frameworks.
    • Experience in knowledge management or professional support roles is advantageous.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop legal professionals.
    • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex regulatory developments.
    • Excellent organisational skills and comfort operating in a fast‑changing regulatory environment.
    • Clear and adaptable communication style, capable of engaging a range of audiences.
    • Collaborative approach, with the ability to build strong relationships across legal, risk, compliance and commercial teams.
    • Interest in using technology and digital tools to enhance knowledge sharing and legal service delivery.

    Location & Working Model

This is a permanent role based in Nottingham, operating under a 3/2 hybrid working model that combines office collaboration with remote working.

    Benefits & Development

The organisation offers a competitive benefits package, including pension, bonus potential, holiday allowance and private healthcare. Additional flexible benefits and family‑friendly policies may also be available.
