    Job description

    Standalone HR

    Up to £34,000 plus benefits

Derby - 4 days on site, 1 day at home

Permanent & Full Time (37.5 hrs per week)

Are you looking for a genuinely autonomous HR role where you can take ownership, shape processes, and make a real impact?

This is an excellent opportunity for an HR professional ready to step into a standalone generalist position supporting a growing, multi-site SME (Occasional travel within the UK, roughly once a month or every other month). You'll work closely with senior leadership, acting as the first point of contact for all HR matters and playing a key role in improving employee experience across the full lifecycle.

You'll have the space to develop, take ownership of processes, and influence change, while benefiting from support where needed. If you're interested, there is the option to continue your development with CIPD Level 5, which would be fully funded.

What you will have ownership of:

Being the first point of contact for HR

    - Act as the trusted HR contact for employees and managers

    - Provide balanced, practical guidance on day-to-day people matters.

    - Support managers with issues relating to wellbeing, attendance, conduct, and performance

    Creating smooth people experience

    - Lead the full journey for new starters, from preparing documentation to delivering engaging introductions to the organisation.

    - Maintain momentum during probation and ensure managers feel confident handling next steps

    - Help shape a welcoming, consistent onboarding experience

    Enabling a high performance workforce

    - Keep training and qualification records relevant and accurate

    - Help identify knowledge gaps and support planning for future development needs

    - Contribute to an environment where learning and growth are encouraged

    Championing strong people data

    - Ensure employee information and documentation is accurate

    - Track people metrics such as retention and absence, turning data into clear insights for leadership

    - Carry out exit conversations and spot patterns that can drive improvements

    Supporting a positive culture

    - Coordinate short, regular employee feedback surveys and help turn insights into meaningful action

    - Review people policies to ensure they remain up to date, relevant, and easy to understand

    - Contribute ideas that make the employee experience better

Be a key partner to leadership

    - Work closely with senior leadership on people focused initiatives.

    - Bring a proactive, solutions focused mindset

    - Play a central role in helping shape and support the organisation's people agenda

    Essential experience needed:

    - CIPD Level 3 (or working towards)

    - Experience in a generalist HR role supporting the full employee lifecycle

    - Strong understanding of UK employment law and HR best practice

    - Confident advising managers and supporting HR cases

    - High attention to detail and strong organisation skills

    - Ability to work independently, handle sensitive information, and use initiative

If you feel this is a fit - please apply now! 1st stage interviews to happen w/c 6th April.
