Shift Pattern: Rotating shifts – 6:00am–2:00pm and 2:00pm–10:00pm

    Overview:
We are recruiting a Shift Maintenance Engineer to join a busy manufacturing site in Skelmersdale. This role is focused on on-site maintenance within a production environment, working on a range of machinery to ensure efficient operation and minimal downtime.

This position would suit a mechanically biased engineer with strong hands-on experience, as the workload is predominantly mechanical. However, electrical maintenance and fault-finding experience is essential.

Experience within a manufacturing or production line environment, ideally involving printing machinery, would be highly beneficial. You will be working in the same workshop daily, carrying out maintenance, repairs, and modifications to machinery, including fabrication and milling work where required.

We are looking for someone confident in problem-solving, adapting equipment, and improvising practical fixes when needed.

    Key Responsibilities:

Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on production machinery
Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults
Maintain and repair a range of equipment including printing machinery
Modify and improve machinery, including fabrication and milling tasks
Support production teams to minimise downtime
Maintain accurate maintenance and service records
    Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
Ensure all work is completed in line with health and safety procedures
    Equipment on Site Includes:

    Conveyors
    Printers and printing machinery
    Glue stations
    Folders and feeders
    Wrappers and labellers
    Mailing machines
The site operates high-speed, high-accuracy production equipment within a fast-paced environment. Training will be provided where required.

    Requirements:

    Mechanically biased engineer (preferred)
Experience in electrical and mechanical maintenance and fault finding (essential)
Experience within a manufacturing or production environment (essential)
Experience working with printing machinery (preferred)
    NVQ Level 3 (preferred)
Experience with fabrication, milling, or lathe work (preferred)
Strong hands-on approach with the ability to problem solve and adapt equipment
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced setting
Driving licence preferred but not essential
Occasional travel to the Macclesfield site may be required
    Additional Information:

Experience with PLCs or hydraulics is beneficial but not essential
    What’s on Offer:

£40,000 – £45,000 per annum (DOE) including shift allowance
    Rotating shift pattern (6–2 / 2–10)
    Overtime available during busy periods

    Time and a half Monday–Saturday
    Double time on Sundays

34 days holiday (including bank holidays)
    Cycle to Work Scheme
    Retail discount benefits
Stable workforce with high staff retention and low turnover
    Training provided on site equipment
