Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 per annum (DOE, inclusive of shift allowance)
Shift Pattern: Rotating shifts – 6:00am–2:00pm and 2:00pm–10:00pm
Overview:
We are recruiting a Shift Maintenance Engineer to join a busy manufacturing site in Skelmersdale. This role is focused on on-site maintenance within a production environment, working on a range of machinery to ensure efficient operation and minimal downtime.
This position would suit a mechanically biased engineer with strong hands-on experience, as the workload is predominantly mechanical. However, electrical maintenance and fault-finding experience is essential.
Experience within a manufacturing or production line environment, ideally involving printing machinery, would be highly beneficial. You will be working in the same workshop daily, carrying out maintenance, repairs, and modifications to machinery, including fabrication and milling work where required.
We are looking for someone confident in problem-solving, adapting equipment, and improvising practical fixes when needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on production machinery
Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults
Maintain and repair a range of equipment including printing machinery
Modify and improve machinery, including fabrication and milling tasks
Support production teams to minimise downtime
Maintain accurate maintenance and service records
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
Ensure all work is completed in line with health and safety procedures

Printers and printing machinery
Glue stations
Folders and feeders
Wrappers and labellers
Mailing machines
The site operates high-speed, high-accuracy production equipment within a fast-paced environment. Training will be provided where required.
Requirements:
Mechanically biased engineer (preferred)
Experience in electrical and mechanical maintenance and fault finding (essential)
Experience within a manufacturing or production environment (essential)
Experience working with printing machinery (preferred)
NVQ Level 3 (preferred)
Experience with fabrication, milling, or lathe work (preferred)
Strong hands-on approach with the ability to problem solve and adapt equipment
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced setting
Driving licence preferred but not essential
Occasional travel to the Macclesfield site may be required
Additional Information:
Experience with PLCs or hydraulics is beneficial but not essential
