Solicitor – Risk and Compliance – Law Firm – 5 PQE – Edinburgh or Glasgow (Hybrid)

This role sits within a high‑performing Risk & Compliance function that supports strategic, regulatory and operational obligations across the firm. You’ll play a key part in ensuring high‑quality, pragmatic compliance that enables safe, consistent client service.
The Role
You will provide expert advice on professional regulation and compliance, supporting partners, solicitors and departments across the firm. Working closely with the Head of Risk & Compliance, you will translate regulatory requirements into practical tools, controls and guidance that are embedded across the matter lifecycle. The position also plays an important part in developing the firm’s commercial risk and compliance offering, contributing to service design, client delivery and business development.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional regulation and compliance advice on LSS and, where relevant, SRA obligations
- Translate regulatory requirements into accessible guidance notes, templates, decision tools and intranet resources
- Support strong supervision and quality assurance practices across teams, including reviews, learning capture and communication standards
- Lead or support regulatory notifications, returns, inspections and information requests
- Design and deliver targeted training and awareness initiatives for departments
- Support the development and growth of the firm’s commercial risk & compliance service
- Help define and deliver repeatable service lines, including diagnostics, audits, retained advisory work and policy suites
About You
- Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales or Scotland) with around 5 PQE
- Strong grounding in professional regulation, risk and compliance within a law‑firm environment
- Ability to translate regulatory expectations into practical, usable tools and controls
- Confident advising senior stakeholders with clear, commercially aligned guidance
- Experience with LSS and/or SRA conduct frameworks, conflict risk, confidentiality, undertakings and professional practice requirements
- Comfortable contributing to training, process design and client‑facing compliance services
