    Job description

    Our client is a well‑established engineering company known for delivering high‑quality products and exceptional service, with continued growth and investment in new technology, they are now seeking a proactive Workshop Supervisor to lead day‑to‑day workshop operations and support a skilled team of Engineers and Technicians.
    As Workshop Supervisor, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth, safe, and efficient running of the engineering workshop. You’ll oversee workflow, allocate tasks, maintain high standards of workmanship, and act as the main point of contact for both the team and management.
    Reporting to and supporting the Production Director, duties to include:
    * Lead, support, and motivate a team of workshop engineers and technicians to manage their timekeeping and productivity, and provide technical guidance.
    * Formally mentor apprentices and junior members of the team
    * Plan and allocate daily workloads to meet production schedules and customer deadlines
    * Ensure all work is completed to the required quality and engineering standards
    * Oversee workshop housekeeping, safety compliance, and equipment maintenance
    * Coordinate with other departments: Liaise with management, engineering and projects to coordinate schedules, report progress, and ensure equipment availability.
    * Conduct toolbox talks, risk assessments, and ensure adherence to H&S procedures
    * Support technical work: Conduct inspections and diagnostics on machinery and equipment. Help troubleshoot technical issues and implement solutions.
    * Monitor stock levels, order materials, and liaise with suppliers when required
    * Assist with hands‑on engineering tasks when needed
    * Provide regular progress updates to management and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
    * Working with typical workshop machinery and equipment, e.g. forklift trucks, cherry pickers etc.
    * Prepare and maintain risk assessments for all workshop activities, ensuring that all staff adhere to established safety protocols and procedures
    As an ideal candidate you will be confident, organised, and technically skilled individual with previous experience within an engineering or manufacturing workshop and excellent leadership skills.
    Skills & Experience:
    * Experience in a workshop and a management role would be beneficial
    * Familiarity with Health and Safety regulations.
    * Ability to multitask and prioritise tasks effectively.
    * Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
    * Knowledge of workshop equipment and machinery.
    * Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
    Desirable Skills:
    * Strong Knowledge on electrical and hydraulic systems
    * IOSH Managing Safely
    * FLT B1 and B3 license
    * IPAF Certification
    * Lifting and Slinging Appointed Person qualification
    * Overhead Gantry Crane Certification
    * Ability to use Autodesk
    * Strong user of Microsoft SharePoint
