Job Title: Special Needs Support Mentor

About the Role
Milk Education are seeking a compassionate, resilient, and proactive Special Needs Support Mentor to join our team. You will play a vital role in supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), helping them to access learning, build confidence, and develop essential life skills in a safe and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with a range of needs (e.g. Autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, SEMH)
- Support students in accessing the curriculum and adapting learning materials where necessary
- Build positive, trusting relationships to encourage engagement and emotional wellbeing
- Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies
- Assist with classroom management and promote a calm, structured learning environment
- Support students with social, emotional, and behavioural development
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and external professionals
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
- Support with personal care where required (if applicable)
Key Skills & Experience
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN (preferred but not essential)
- Understanding of additional needs such as autism, ADHD, or SEMH
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude
- Ability to remain calm and adaptable in challenging situations
- A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners
