Make a Lasting Impact in Blackpool

Are you a patient, nurturing individual who believes that every child regardless of their starting point deserves a voice?

Our vibrant Blackpool Academy is seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Support Assistant to provide long-term care for a charming Year 1 student. This is a rare opportunity to provide vital stability, following his developmental journey through the school until 2028.

The Role: Supporting ASD & Complex Needs

Our student is Autistic, non-verbal, and currently working at an 18-month developmental level. This role requires a nurture-first approach, prioritising emotional well-being and sensory regulation above all else.

    Your Key Responsibilities:

Communication & Interaction: Using visuals (PECS), sensory cues, and play-based engagement to communicate at his level.

Nurture-Based Learning: Adapting Year 1 curriculum activities into accessible, sensory-heavy learning aids.

Personal Care: Providing essential personal care with the utmost dignity, patience, and respect.

EHCP Implementation: Working closely with the SENCO to achieve targets within his Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

    Why Join Our Blackpool Academy?

As part of a highly successful Multi-Academy Trust (MAT), we offer a level of professional security and networking that is second to none.

Career Development: Access MAT-wide training, specialist SEND resources, and inclusive workshops.

Strong Professional Networks: Benefit from our deep links to partner schools across Lancashire.

Collaborative Environment: Work within a dedicated team of SEN professionals who value your expertise.

    About You (Person Specification)

We are looking for a Special Support Assistant with a big heart and a resilient nature. To be successful, you will need:

Experience in SEND: Previous experience (or a profound interest) in ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) and complex needs.

A Calming Presence: The ability to remain regulated during sensory meltdowns and find joy in small developmental "wins."

Commitment: A desire to stay with this student long-term to provide the consistency he requires to thrive.

    Reliability: Ability to commit to a full-time, 32.5-hour weekly schedule ( 8:30-3:30).

Benefits of Working with Tradewind Recruitment

Competitive Pay: High hourly rates paid via PAYE (No Umbrella company fees).

Free CPD: Access to over 2,500 accredited courses via The National College.

Expert Support: A dedicated consultant (Kara) to guide you through the registration and placement process.
