Smile Education is working in partnership with a well-regarded secondary school in Solihull to recruit an experienced and dedicated Head of Year to join their pastoral team as soon as possible.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a strong pastoral leader or experienced teacher/cover supervisor who is passionate about supporting students’ wellbeing, behaviour, and academic progress. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring students are supported to achieve their full potential both inside and outside the classroom.
The Role As Head of Year, you will:

Lead and manage the pastoral care and wellbeing of a designated year group
Monitor attendance, behaviour, and academic progress
Provide guidance and support to students to help them overcome barriers to learning
Work closely with teachers, senior leaders, and safeguarding teams
Build positive relationships with students, parents, and carers
Support the implementation of behaviour and pastoral policies
Act as a positive role model and mentor for studentsThe Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who:

Has experience working in a secondary school environment
Has strong pastoral, behaviour management, and leadership skills
Is confident supporting students with social, emotional, or behavioural needs
Can build positive relationships with students, staff, and families
Is organised, proactive, and committed to improving student outcomesExperience in a pastoral leadership role such as Head of Year, Pastoral Lead, or Behaviour Lead would be highly beneficial.
