    Job description

Job Shop Recruitment has an opportunity for a Technical Advisor for a client of ours based in Totnes.

The Technical Advisor will play an important part in providing technical advice to customers, working with suppliers, and helping to source equipment and expand our range. Although an interest in natural history/ecology is essential, technical knowledge of the products we sell is not, and all training will be provided. The role involves working with colleagues across the company to ensure we deliver the best service and products to our customers across the marketplace.

    Responsibilities include:

    * Customer support – you will provide advice and support to customers on our range of equipment and books.

    * Purchasing – you will help with purchasing, including building and maintaining relationships with new and existing suppliers, assisting with pricing, and placing orders.

    * Product range – you will help source new products, prepare product descriptions, and monitor product performance.

    * Marketing – you will help to prepare marketing materials, including blog posts and emails.

    * Sales – you will support the sales and marketing team by building relationships with new and existing customers.

    * Cross-working - the Product and Purchasing team works very closely with many other departments. You will assist and work closely with other teams with their queries, from Goods-In to Sales

    * Conference Attendance – you will attend conferences across the UK and Europe, taking along a stand with our products and getting to know our customers.

The ideal candidate will bring the following to the role:

    Essential:

    * An interest in and practical knowledge of natural history and ecology

    * A good telephone manner and outstanding written communication skills

    * Outgoing and confident - you will be comfortable talking to a wide range of people, including suppliers, academics, consultants, teachers and members of the public.

    * Numeracy skills, the ability to confidently use basic maths and spreadsheets.

    * Above all, we value a common-sense approach, critical thinking and a willingness to learn new skills.

    Desirable:

    * An undergraduate degree in a related field and the ability to work to a consistently high standard.

    * Familiarity with the equipment and books that people use to survey, study and enjoy wildlife.

    * A second language in addition to English.

    * Full UK driving licence.

    Our offer to you:-

Office-based position, Salary: £27,000. Based on a 37.5-hour week Monday - Friday, with the position attracting 28 days holiday p.a., including bank holidays.

Benefits include Employee Assistance Program, a generous company pension, free parking and refreshments. They also offers each colleague up to three paid days for volunteering each year
