We are a friendly and inclusive mainstream primary school rated "Good" by Ofsted, committed to providing high-quality teaching and targeted support to ensure every pupil achieves their full potential. Our school values creating a nurturing learning environment where children feel supported, confident, and motivated to succeed.

    About the Role

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Intervention Support Worker to deliver targeted literacy and numeracy catch-up programmes for pupils who require additional support with core skills.

This role is ideal for someone passionate about helping children overcome learning barriers and build confidence in reading, writing, and mathematics. You will work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to identify learning gaps and provide structured support through small group and one-to-one interventions.

Through your work, you will play an important role in helping pupils close attainment gaps, improve their academic progress, and develop a more positive relationship with learning.

    Key Responsibilities

Deliver targeted literacy and numeracy intervention sessions to individuals or small groups of pupils

Support pupils who are working below age-related expectations to improve core academic skills

Assist teachers in identifying learning gaps and implementing suitable intervention strategies

Monitor, record, and report pupil progress following intervention sessions

Adapt teaching strategies to support pupils with additional needs, including SEN where appropriate

Encourage pupils' confidence, motivation, and engagement with learning

Contribute to creating a positive, supportive, and inclusive learning environment

    Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be patient, encouraging, and passionate about helping children succeed. You will be able to build strong relationships with pupils and support them in developing both academically and emotionally.

    You will ideally have:

Experience working with primary school pupils (KS1 or KS2)

Knowledge of basic literacy and numeracy development

Experience supporting pupils with additional learning needs or SEN (desirable)

    Good communication and teamwork skills

A commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing

    What We Offer

The opportunity to make a direct and meaningful impact on pupil progress

Support from experienced teaching staff and leadership

Access to over 2,500 free online CPD courses, providing an excellent opportunity to develop new skills and progress professionally
