We are a dynamic and growing Tier 2 main contractor with a strong pipeline of high-profile projects across the South West. Due to internal reallocation and recent major contract wins, we are seeking an experienced and ambitious Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team in Bristol on an immediate basis.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a proven professional to step up as the lead on-site surveyor for a flagship £50million+ new build scheme that is already underway. You will take full commercial ownership of the project, driving cost control, contractual performance, and value delivery while playing a key role in supporting our regional commercial growth ambitions.
About the Role As the Lead Senior Quantity Surveyor on this major project, you will:
Act as the primary commercial lead on site, managing all QS functions from inception through to final account.
Oversee cost planning, forecasting, budgeting, and value engineering to ensure the project is delivered on time and within budget.
Handle procurement, subcontractor appointments, interim valuations, variations, and change management.
Manage risk, claims, and disputes while maintaining strong client and supply chain relationships.
Produce accurate monthly commercial reports, cashflow forecasts, and final account preparations.
Mentor and develop junior team members, contributing to the wider commercial function.
Support business development initiatives by identifying opportunities for regional commercial expansion and repeat business.
This role offers genuine autonomy on a high-value scheme, with clear pathways to further leadership responsibilities as our regional presence grows.
About You We are looking for a strong, commercially astute individual with:
Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor (or equivalent) working on major new build construction projects (£20m+), ideally with main/Tier 2 contractors.
A track record of successfully leading commercial delivery on site for large-scale schemes.
Strong NEC/JCT contract knowledge and commercial negotiation skills.
Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management abilities.
MRICS (or working towards) is highly desirable but not essential – experience and capability are key.
A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with ambition to grow within a progressive business.
