How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Job Title: CNC Operator / Setter
    Location: Andover
    Salary: £16.00 - £18.00 per hour (DOE)
    Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
    Hours: 39 hours per week (Monday to Friday)

    Overview
    Our client, a well-established and growing precision engineering company, is currently seeking experienced CNC Operators/Setters to join their day shift manufacturing team. With a strong presence in the Automotive, Motorsport, Defence, and Electronics sectors, this is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled machinist to work on high-precision, low-volume components using state-of-the-art CNC machining technology.

    Key Responsibilities
    ⦁ Set and operate CNC Horizontal/Vertical machining centres (Mazak, Heidenhain, and Fanuc controls)
    ⦁ Edit CNC programs at the machine as required to optimise performance
    ⦁ Produce first-off components and support production runs to ensure accuracy and quality
    ⦁ Inspect own work using appropriate measuring tools and techniques
    ⦁ Record production data and maintain routing sheet documentation
    ⦁ Maintain organisation by returning drawings, fixtures, and tools to the correct locations
    ⦁ Follow safety and quality standards to ensure product conformity
    ⦁ Support continuous improvement initiatives, including scrap reduction and process enhancements
    ⦁ Carry out basic machine maintenance and maintain a clean, safe workspace

    Candidate Profile
    ⦁ Proven experience in CNC milling with the ability to set and operate machinery
    ⦁ Comfortable working to tight tolerances and inspecting high-precision components
    ⦁ Knowledge of geometric tolerances (GD&T)
    ⦁ Proactive, reliable, and able to work both independently and within a team
    ⦁ Strong work ethic and attention to detail

    Education & Experience
    ⦁ GCSE or equivalent (preferred)
    ⦁ HNC Level 3 in Engineering (desirable)
    ⦁ Alternatively, a strong, proven track record in CNC machining will be considered
