How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Electrical Project Manager – Data Centre

    Chertsey, Surrey | Permanent | Site-based
    £80,000 – £90,000 + package

    If you want to work on one of the most technically advanced data centre projects currently being delivered in the UK, this is the opportunity to step into a programme where the electrical scope sits at the centre of a genuinely cutting-edge facility.

    This is not a conventional data centre build. The facility is being engineered to host next-generation AI compute infrastructure, with extremely high-density GPU clusters requiring sophisticated power distribution, hybrid cooling infrastructure and highly coordinated mechanical and electrical services integration.

    James Lewis are supporting a leading engineering contractor in the appointment of an Electrical Project Manager to join the team delivering Phase 2 of the Longcross Data Centre development in Chertsey, Surrey. This project forms part of the flagship commercial development within the Longcross Garden Village programme and represents one of the UK’s most advanced AI-ready data centre environments.

    You will take ownership of the electrical delivery across a highly technical MEP scope within a fast-moving construction programme running through 2026.

    The project

    Phase 2 of the Longcross development delivers a new modular data hall designed specifically for high-density AI workloads. The facility is engineered to support next-generation AI GPU clusters and incorporates hybrid cooling infrastructure combining indirect air cooling with advanced liquid cooling systems.

    The electrical infrastructure is equally demanding, including installation of major campus power systems and a large-scale MV UPS installation designed to deliver extremely high efficiency. The project is also targeting BREEAM Excellent certification and is being engineered to achieve a Power Usage Effectiveness of sub-1.3.

    What you will do

    Take ownership of the electrical package across the live construction programme from installation through commissioning and handover

    Lead the electrical site team and manage specialist subcontractors, suppliers and commissioning partners

    Coordinate electrical installations across a complex MEP environment including power distribution, UPS infrastructure and associated systems

    Drive programme delivery through lookahead planning, progress reporting and constraint management

    Oversee procurement and installation sequencing for electrical plant, switchgear and distribution infrastructure

    Manage technical coordination with mechanical teams delivering hybrid cooling infrastructure

    Lead QA processes including inspections, ITPs, benchmarking and defect close-out

    Manage design clarifications and technical queries through RFIs and coordination with consultant and client teams

    Ensure RAMS and installation documentation are maintained and followed across all electrical works

    Support commissioning phases including integrated systems testing, energisation and final handover

    Provide clear progress, risk and delivery reporting to senior project leadership

    What you will need

    * Proven experience delivering electrical packages on large-scale MEP or mission-critical infrastructure projects

    * Data centre experience is highly desirable, particularly on technically complex facilities

    * Strong subcontractor management and coordination capability across complex service installations

    * Good understanding of electrical infrastructure associated with high-availability environments

    * Confidence managing programme, delivery sequencing and technical coordination with multiple stakeholders

    * Comfortable working within high-specification projects where testing, commissioning and performance standards are critical

    * Black CSCS card and SMSTS typically expected for this level of role

    Package

    * £80,000 – £90,000 salary depending on experience

    * Car allowance or company electric vehicle

    * Private medical insurance

    * Travel expenses

    * Circa 10% bonus
