An established and growing engineering business in Ilkeston is looking to appoint an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of mechanical projects across the UK.

This role sits within a specialist controls and M&E division delivering projects ranging from £50k to £8m, with a typical project value of £1–2m.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor with around 2 years’ experience who is looking to take more ownership of packages within a supportive commercial team.

The Role

As Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial management of elements across multiple projects.

Responsibilities will include:

Assisting with cost management and budget control

*

Subcontractor procurement and package management

*

Valuations and variations

*

Supporting CVR processes

*

Cost reporting

*

Working closely with Project Managers and Engineers

*

Supporting final accounts

You will gain exposure to projects from pre-contract through to final account.

What We’re Looking For

*

2+ years’ experience in a Quantity Surveying role

*

Experience working on mechanical, M&E, LV or MV projects preferred

*

Understanding of subcontractor management

*

Experience with valuations and variations

*

Commercially aware and detail-oriented

*

Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or similar (preferred)

This role would suit someone currently working as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Graduate QS ready for the next step.
