How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Transform ideas into life-changing medical and consumer technologies

Are you a creative engineer who thrives on solving complex technical challenges from first principles? A company specialising in medical devices and safety-critical consumer products is seeking a talented principal electronics engineer to lead groundbreaking product development.

This role will see the successful candidate developing electronics and embedded software for diverse electronics products, integrating hardware and software systems, and progressing to lead dynamic project teams. The position offers the opportunity to work throughout the complete product lifecycle, from initial concept generation through to manufacturing, whilst building client relationships and securing commercial contracts. Working primarily in regulated markets, particularly medical devices and surgical solutions, the successful candidate will tackle challenges that require returning to theoretical first principles and devising innovative solutions.

    Requirements:

    * Extensive commercial experience designing, prototyping and testing electronic circuits/systems and writing embedded software in C / C++.

    * Practical hands-on electronics skills including soldering, PCB modification, wiring and use of test equipment.

    * Project planning, resourcing and leadership capabilities.

    * Strong academic background with a first or 2:1 degree in engineering from a leading university (UK top 20 or equivalent) with excellent A-level results. Further post-graduate education would be well received and recognised.

    * Demonstrated ability to work across disciplines with excellent communication and presentation skills.

Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK as company sponsorship is not available.

This company offers exceptional opportunities for fast-track career development into project leadership roles. They maintain an ethical stance on project selection, ensuring meaningful and satisfying work. This role is based at their modern facilities close to good rail and road connections. The remunerations package on offer includes a competitive salary, bonus scheme, generous employer pension contributions and personal training budgets.
