How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Nelson Permanent Placements are seeking an experienced Air Compressor Engineer to join a growing service team delivering high-quality support to a nationwide client base, including major blue-chip organisations.

    Based predominantly in the Midlands with national travel as required, this is a hands-on, field-based role working Monday to Friday. You will play a key role in maintaining, diagnosing, repairing, and installing oil-flooded and oil-free compressed air systems, ensuring exceptional service standards are consistently delivered.

    Key Responsibilities of this role as an Air Compressor Engineer you will be:

    * Carrying out servicing, maintenance and repairs on both oil-flooded and oil-free compressed air systems.

    * Performing precise mechanical and electrical fault diagnosis.

    * Installing and commissioning compressed air equipment when needed.

    * Accurately completing service reports and other documentation using paperless systems.

    * Maintaining high standards of safety, quality and workmanship at all times.

    * Developing and sustaining strong client relationships through professional service delivery.

    * Spotting opportunities to improve processes and expand service support.

    * Collaborating effectively with colleagues across service and management teams.

    To be considered for this role as an Air Compressor Engineer you will be:

    * Proven experience in a similar compressed air engineering position.

    * Skilled in both mechanical and electrical fault-finding.

    * Confident working independently in a field-based role.

    * Professional, customer-oriented, with excellent communication skills.

    * Willing to travel across the UK as required.

    * OEM-trained (desirable).

    * Electrically qualified (desirable).

    * Familiar with oil-free compressors (advantageous).

    * F-Gas certified (advantageous).

    * Experienced with N₂/O₂ generation systems, dryers or central control systems (advantageous).

    * Comfortable using digital reporting tools and systems.
