    Job description

We are supporting a leading, independent construction consultancy that specialises in delivering major infrastructure programmes across the UK. The consultancy has an excellent reputation for delivering high-profile projects across the energy, utilities, nuclear, and industrial sectors, providing commercial management, cost consultancy, and project management services on complex, multi-million-pound programmes.

They are currently recruiting a Quantity Surveyor to join the National Grid Great Grid Upgrade programme - the largest overhaul of the UK electricity network in generations. This nationally significant programme forms part of National Grid’s £30bn investment across England and Wales over the next four years and will connect renewable energy sources to homes and businesses, modernise critical electrical infrastructure, and support the UK’s transition to net zero.

The role is based in Leicestershire, with site visits to project locations approximately twice per week, and offers the opportunity to work on complex substation and high-voltage network upgrades alongside industry-leading teams on a programme of unprecedented scale and impact.

    Key Responsibilities

Provide commercial management support across major energy infrastructure projects.

Prepare cost plans, budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.

Administer NEC3/NEC4 contracts, including compensation events, change control, and commercial correspondence.

Monitor project costs and proactively identify and manage commercial risks.

Support client communications and maintain strong working relationships.

Liaise with contractors and project teams to resolve commercial and contractual queries.

Prepare reports and submissions for internal teams and clients.

Ensure accurate, timely commercial information to support successful project delivery.

    Candidate Criteria

Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.

Chartered (MRICS) or working towards chartership preferred.

Proven experience working on infrastructure or energy projects.

Knowledge and practical experience of NEC3/NEC4 contracts.

Sound commercial and financial awareness with a focus on cost control and risk management.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Willing to attend site approximately twice per week.

Valid UK driving licence and access to a car.

    What’s on Offer

Competitive salary and benefits package, dependent on experience.

Opportunity to work on one of the UK’s most important energy infrastructure programmes.

Exposure to complex, high-profile projects with national significance.

Long-term career development within a growing, respected consultancy.

Flexible working arrangements and strong professional development support.

This is a high-impact opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor looking to play a key role in the delivery of critical UK infrastructure, shaping commercial outcomes on projects that will support the country’s transition to a low-carbon future
