    Job description

Technical Sales Engineer – Hydraulics / Precision Engineering
We are working in partnership with a long-established precision engineering manufacturer with over 100 years of heritage and a strong reputation within the hydraulics sector. Due to continued growth, the company is seeking to appoint an experienced Technical Sales Engineer to support both new business development and the management of established engineering customers.
The business manufactures high-quality precision-machined components used within demanding hydraulic applications where strength, pressure performance and tight machining tolerances are critical. Their products are supplied into a range of industries including heavy equipment, mobile machinery, marine engineering, offshore energy, defence and industrial machinery.
This role would suit a technically minded individual who understands hydraulic components and precision machining, and who enjoys working closely with customers to develop practical engineering solutions.
    The Role
You will be responsible for developing new business opportunities while also managing and strengthening relationships with existing customers. Acting as the link between customers and the internal engineering and manufacturing teams, you will ensure technical requirements are clearly understood and commercially delivered.
    Key responsibilities include:
    • Identifying and developing new business opportunities within hydraulics and fluid power markets
    • Managing and expanding relationships with existing engineering customers
    • Reviewing engineering drawings, specifications and component requirements
    • Discussing machining methods, materials, tolerances and performance requirements
    • Working closely with internal engineers to confirm manufacturability and production feasibility
    • Supporting the preparation of quotations for precision-machined parts and assemblies
    • Visiting customers to understand their equipment, applications and operating environments
    • Identifying opportunities to expand the company’s presence within existing accounts
This role would suit individuals currently working as a Technical Sales Engineer, Sales Engineer within hydraulics or fluid power, Applications Engineer with customer-facing responsibilities, or Business Development Engineer within precision engineering or manufacturing.
We are also very open to speaking with candidates from a range of manufacturing and precision engineering backgrounds, even if their experience is not exclusively within hydraulics. Individuals with strong machining knowledge, experience supplying engineered components, or exposure to mechanical systems within manufacturing environments are encouraged to apply.
    Suitable candidates will ideally have:
    • Experience working with hydraulic components, fluid power systems, or precision-machined parts
    • The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
    • Confidence communicating with design engineers, production teams and technical buyers
    • A commercially aware mindset supported by sound technical understanding
    • A proactive approach to developing new business and strengthening customer relationships
    Package
    • Competitive basic salary
    • Structured commission scheme
    • Full IT equipment provided
    • Strong internal engineering and administrative support
    • Ongoing technical and professional development
    • Long-term career opportunities within a stable engineering manufacturer
This is an excellent opportunity to join a respected and long-established engineering business where technical expertise, product quality and long-term customer relationships are highly valued.
