How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    This company develops high quality market-management software, used throughout the UK and Europe to ensure critical services are delivered reliably. They are seeking a talented Cloud Engineer to join their friendly team of developers, product owners and testers. Their success relies on the dependability of their cloud–based products, providing round-the-clock access to their clients.

    You will be involved with the design, development, and maintenance of AWS infrastructure, employing a variety of technologies such as Infrastructure as Code and workflow automation. Your solutions would help ensure fast and efficient deployment to multiple environments.

    Once up to speed, your role will encompass areas such as: maintaining and improving the existing architectural, ensuring the security and dependability of cloud-based services. Employing automation and IaC to support multiple environments, monitoring and troubleshooting performance, and collaborating with and mentoring colleagues. You will also need to be comfortable providing on-call support (typically this can be 1 week in 4).

    You will need:

    * Prior experience as a cloud engineer, providing support within an operational environment, with sustained tenure with employers.

    * A good understanding of cloud technology, preferably AWS, and skills in a good selection of the following areas: networking, DNS, containerization, database management, automation and scripting, IaC, Terraform, or CI/CD.

    * Good troubleshooting and logical thinking skills to diagnose issues and identify root causes.

    * Excellent communications skills, able to work within a team or independently, and comfortable providing on-call support.

    * Full existing rights to work in the UK, without time limit.

    Team fit is important, as the company are looking to hire someone who wants to grow their career within them for the next few years. They are located in Cambridge, and whilst there is some scope for hybrid working (1-2 days WFH when projects allow), they are seeking candidates who can reliably attend onsite meetings in person. On offer is an excellent remuneration package is available, commensurate with skills and experience.
