How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    £70-85k + bonus + benefits

Note: This role requires specialist experience of the design and development of power converters (transformers / inductors) – ideally 50 -200 kW - including magnetics.

This role requires extensive experience of power electronics design specifically the design of power conversion products. This will involve the design of magnetic components of transformers / inductors. Engineers should be able to take products through the design lifecycle - from concept to series production.

It would ideally suit a principal electronics engineer but the company is open to considering a senior engineer with evident technical leadership experience too.

Key elements: Principal Power Electronics Design Engineer.

    * Power electronics design and development (isolated power converters – high power)

    * Experience with a variety of power converter topologies (e.g. Flyback converter, Forward converter, Half-bridge / Full-bridge, Push-pull converter, Resonant) and their application.

    * Experience of the design of high-power electronic converters for automotive / electric vehicle applications would be great. Otherwise, other applications such as clean energy, wind energy, solar, grid / intelligent grid, rail, industrial, etc.

    * Technical leadership experience and customer facing capability

More: Principal Power Electronics Design Engineer.

The role could suit an engineer with at least 8-10 years of relevant post-academic industry experience or more. Candidates should have:

    * Strong communication skills (used to working directly with customers)

    * Excellent track record in the design of power electronics (isolated power converters – high power, ideally 50 -200 kW - including magnetics)

    * Experience of tools such as Altium, Simscape & PLECS for electronics design and simulation.

The company is involved with the design of electric drivetrain systems for e-mobility and clean energy applications (e.g. automotive electric vehicle etc). Candidates with experience of designing power converters for such applications would be preferred but this is not essential.

Required experience / skills: Senior / Principal Power Electronics Design Engineer

    * Degree / master’s degree in electrical, electronic engineering, etc.

    * Excellent track record in the design of power electronics (isolated power converters – high power, ideally 50 -200 kW - including magnetics)

    * Experience of leading projects and technically leading would be required.

    * Experience of the design of high-power electronic converters for automotive / electric vehicle applications would be great. Otherwise, other applications such as clean energy, wind energy, solar, grid / intelligent grid, rail, industrial, etc.

    * Experience with a variety of power converter topologies (e.g. Flyback converter, Forward converter, Half-bridge / Full-bridge, Push-pull converter, Resonant) and their application.

    * Evidence of taking relevant designs from blank sheet / concept through to series production.

    * Able to work in a fast-paced, customer centric environment.

    * Experience of thermal management / cooling of power electronics systems would be great.

This principal power Electronics Design Engineer role is commutable from Birmingham. Redditch, Solihull, Nuneaton, Hinckley, Leamington Spa, Banbury, Daventry, Rugby, Coventry and Lutterworth. Hybrid working is available
