How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    NexGen Consultancy LTD are working with a well-established and growing engineering company based in Welwyn Garden City. Renowned for their precision work across the aerospace, automotive, oil & gas, and defence sectors, they are now looking for a skilled and motivated CNC Programmer with Hypermill experience to join their team.

    This is more than just a programming role — it’s an opportunity to take ownership of the milling department and play a key part in shaping its future.

    The Role:

    As CNC Programmer & Milling Department Lead, you’ll be responsible for:

    *

    Programming CNC milling machines using Hypermill CAM software

    *

    Setting up machines and jobs, getting them running for operators to continue production

    *

    Organising workflow within the milling department to ensure efficiency and timely delivery

    *

    Monitoring and optimising cycle times

    *

    Collaborating with the wider production team to prioritise work and manage resources effectively

    *

    Providing support and guidance to operators, ensuring high-quality standards are met

    We're looking for someone who:

    *

    Has strong experience with CNC programming (Hypermill essential)

    *

    Is confident in leading or supervising a small team or department

    *

    Understands precision engineering and quality control standards

    *

    Has experience working in one or more of the following sectors: aerospace, automotive, oil & gas, defence

    *

    Can read and interpret complex technical and engineering drawings

    *

    Brings a proactive approach to improving processes, cycle times, and overall departmental performance
