How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Job Description

We are seeking a Vessel Superintendent to manage the safe, compliant, and efficient technical management of the company’s growing crew transfer vessel (CTV) and survey fleet, which operates primarily in UK waters but also occasionally in EU waters.

The role is ideal for someone who has a strong marine and marine engineering background, excellent interpersonal and time-management skills and a strong understanding of flag, coding, class, client and IMO/ILO requirements for vessels ranging from 10 m to 25m in length and up to 500GT.

Success in this role will be measured by the candidate’s ability to proactively manage our engineering and technical team to support high-availability operations in a demanding offshore wind environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Oversee the technical condition, maintenance, and operational readiness of our vessels
    • Ensure vessels are maintained in line with manufacturer recommendations, class rules, MCA requirements, and company standards
    • Manage the Planned Maintenance System (PMS), defect reporting, breakdowns, and corrective maintenance
    • Coordinate dry dockings, annual surveys, refits, upgrades, and warranty work
    • Support the mobilisation and demobilisation of vessels for offshore wind and survey projects
    • Ensure compliance with maritime legislation and guidance, including MCA Codes of Practice, Workboat Code, MGN/MINs, and relevant Flag State requirements
    • Support technical compliance with the ISM Code and company Safety Management System (SMS)
    • Ensure vessels meet client technical requirements prior to mobilization and through each contract
    • Lead or support investigations into technical failures, ensuring corrective actions are closed out
    • Act as the primary shore-based technical contact for Engineers
    • Provide technical advice and coordinate engineering support to vessels working in offshore wind farm environments
    • Hold and manage vessel technical budgets
    • Plan and control maintenance, repair, and spare parts expenditure, balancing cost efficiency with reliability and safety
    • Oversee the maintenance of our spare parts inventory, critical spares, and consumables to minimise downtime
    • Liaise with UK and European shipyards, OEMs, service engineers, and suppliers
    • Plan and supervise technical/engineering contractor activities, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, on budget and to specification
    • Evaluate supplier and contractor performance and manage technical service agreements
    • Monitor vessel availability, reliability, defects, and downtime against offshore wind project requirements
    • Prepare technical reports, maintenance records, and KPI data for internal management and clients as required
    • Support continuous improvement initiatives across the fleet
    • This is an office-based role, but with frequent travel to UK ports, offshore wind bases, vessels, and shipyards
    • Due to the nature of maritime operations, occasional out-of-hours support to respond to technical issues will be expected

    Required education/experience & attributes

    • Chief Engineer (STCW III/2) or Master Mariner (STCW II/2) Certificate of Competency, or equivalent relevant marine technical background
    • Proven experience working with offshore wind crew transfer vessels or similar high-speed workboats
    • Strong working knowledge of UK MCA regulations, Workboat Code, and class requirements
    • Experience managing planned maintenance systems (PMS)
    • Solid understanding of ISM Code and safety management systems
    • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple vessels and priorities, delegating work where necessary/required
    • Practical, safety-driven, and solutions-focused approach
    • Clear communicator, able to work effectively with crews, clients, shipyards, and internal teams
    • Strong problem-solving skills in a fast-paced offshore wind operational environment
    • Competent with Microsoft Office and experience of fleet management / PMS software
    • Right to work in the UK
    • Full valid UK driving license

Desired but not essential education/experience & attributes:

    • Previous shore-based experience as a Vessel Superintendent, Technical Superintendent, or Fleet Engineer
    • Experience supporting offshore wind farm operations and marine coordination requirements
    • Dry docking, new build, or vessel modification experience (e.g. Fendering systems, bow transfer upgrades)
    • Experience with coding and class requirements for vessels over 24m in length and up to 500GT

    Core attributes and conduct

    • Adhere to moral and ethical principles in all interactions
    • Be inclusive, respectful and team-focused
    • Being open and honest in communication and operations
