About Us:
We are a growing and innovative medium-sized AV event production company that specializes in delivering high-quality audio-visual experiences for events of all sizes. As we expand our capabilities, we’re opening a brand-new warehouse, fully equipped with the budget to make it a state-of-the-art hub for our scenic production needs. We are looking for an experienced and self-driven Head of Scenic to take charge of this exciting new division and shape its future.
The Role:
As the Head of Scenic, you will be the driving force behind the creation and execution of all scenic designs for our events. You’ll have the freedom to build and lead a team, establish relationships with top-tier suppliers, and shape the creative vision for our scenic elements. You'll have full autonomy to run the division and be your own boss while working closely with our production team to bring our client's visions to life.

Key Responsibilities:
- Warehouse Setup & Management: Oversee the setup and day-to-day management of the brand-new warehouse, with full budgetary control to kit it out with the latest equipment and materials.
- Design & Execution: Collaborate with clients, producers, and the design team to develop creative and innovative scenic concepts, bringing them to life with your vision and craftsmanship.
- Team Leadership: Build and lead a team of skilled professionals (including carpenters, fabricators, and set designers), establishing a collaborative and efficient working environment.
- Freelancer Network: Utilize your industry contacts to engage and manage freelance carpenters, designers, and other skilled labor for specific projects.
- Client Relationships: Maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure scenic designs align with their event objectives, offering regular updates and handling any revisions with ease.
- Budget Management: Take responsibility for the budgeting of scenic projects, ensuring projects stay within scope, on time, and within budget.
- Health & Safety: Maintain a safe and compliant working environment within the warehouse and on event sites.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Head of Scenics, Scenic Designer, or similar role within the AV, events, or theatre industries.
- Strong knowledge of scenic design principles, carpentry, and event production.
- Experience managing teams and working with freelancers.
- Ability to manage a budget and ensure cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.
- A solid network of freelance carpenters, designers, and other skilled professionals that you can call upon when needed.
- Excellent project management skills and attention to detail.
- A creative and innovative approach to problem-solving and design.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build lasting relationships with clients and collaborators.
Desirable:
- A background in scenic design, carpentry, or set construction.
- Experience with 3D design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, Rhino).
- A passion for AV production and event management.
- Previous experience working with large-scale AV events or exhibitions.
