How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    About the Role

We’re delighted to be offering an exciting opportunity to join our Building Services Team as a Facilities Supervisor (Apprentice) at the East of England Co-op.

This is a structured development role designed to build future facilities management capability within our organisation. You’ll gain hands-on experience supporting the day-to-day operation of our buildings while studying towards the Facilities Management Supervisor Level 3 Apprenticeship.

Working from Wherstead Park and travelling to sites across our Society, you’ll develop practical skills in facilities operations, property maintenance coordination, compliance processes, and contractor management. Throughout the programme, you’ll combine academic study with real-world experience, building the knowledge and confidence needed to take on greater responsibility within the Building Services team.

If you’re motivated to learn, eager to build a career in facilities management, and want to earn while you learn, this is a fantastic opportunity to start a long-term career within a purpose-driven organisation.

    What You’ll Be Doing

    • Assist in coordinating planned and reactive maintenance across Society properties.
    • Support minor facilities projects and building improvement works.
    • Participate in site inspections, building checks, and facilities audits.
    • Help maintain compliance registers, maintenance logs, and risk assessments.
    • Assist with contractor liaison, documentation, and service monitoring.
    • Support operational coordination of facilities services across sites.
    • Contribute to health and safety compliance activities including incident reporting and safe systems of work.
    • Develop knowledge of facilities systems, building operations, and service delivery standards.
    • Actively participate in the apprenticeship programme and apply learning to day-to-day responsibilities.

    What You’ll Need

    • GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English at Grade 4/C or above.
    • Eligibility to enrol on a Level 3 Facilities Management Supervisor Apprenticeship.
    • A genuine interest in facilities management, property operations, or building services.
    • Strong organisational and communication skills.
    • Basic IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
    • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn in a practical working environment.
    • Ability to work safely and follow health and safety guidance.

Experience in operational, customer-facing, property, or facilities environments would be beneficial but is not essential.

    Why Join Us?

At the East of England Co-op, we are committed to investing in the future of our colleagues and building long-term capability within our organisation.

This apprenticeship offers more than a qualification — it provides a structured pathway to developing a career in Facilities Management within a supportive and purpose-driven organisation.

    You’ll benefit from:

    • A competitive starting salary
    • A fully funded Level 3 Facilities Management Supervisor Apprenticeship
    • Membership support with the Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management (IWFM)
    • Structured mentoring and hands-on operational experience
    • Clear progression opportunities following completion of the apprenticeship
    • The opportunity to contribute to the safe and efficient operation of a diverse property portfolio

If you’re ready to begin your career in facilities management while gaining valuable experience and qualifications, we’d love to hear from you.
