Social Worker – Justice Services (Secure Setting)
Location: West Lothian
Pay Rate: £42 per hour
Contract: Full-time, temporary (6 months)
Hours: 36 hours per week (typically between 8:00am – 5:00pm, flexibility available)
Start Date: April 2026
Seven Resourcing are recruiting for an experienced Social Worker to join a specialist Justice Services team within a secure custodial environment in West Lothian. This is a challenging yet highly rewarding role where you will work with individuals serving long-term sentences, supporting risk management, rehabilitation, and safe reintegration into the community.
You will play a key role in delivering high-quality social work services, undertaking risk assessments, contributing to multi-agency processes, and supporting complex case management.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of individuals serving long-term sentences (4+ years)
- Complete comprehensive risk assessments using tools such as LSCMI, RoSH, SARA, SA07, and RM2000
- Prepare detailed reports to support case planning and decision-making
- Participate in Integrated Case Management (ICM) and MAPPA processes
- Carry out pre-release planning and assessments, including Circular 18 reports
- Deliver structured interventions and contribute to therapeutic work
- Provide duty cover as required within the service
Requirements
- BA in Social Work (or equivalent recognised qualification)
- Registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC), or eligibility to register
- Experience working with complex and high-risk individuals, including those convicted of violent or sexual offences
- Strong understanding of risk assessment frameworks and tools (LSCMI, RoSH, SARA, SA07, RM2000)
- Ability to work within strict security procedures and guidelines
- Excellent report writing and communication skills
Compliance & Checks
- Disclosure Scotland (Level 2) clearance required
- SSSC registration must be completed within required timescales if not already in place
