How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Title: Primary SEND Teacher
    Area: Rochdale, Manchester
Start Date: Monday 20th April 2026
    Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Pay scale: Competitive and dependant on experience
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm

    About the school:

This specialist provision supports children and young people aged 7-16 with SEMH needs and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). Pupils are taught in small, carefully structured classes and benefit from a trauma‑informed environment where emotional wellbeing, relationships and consistency are central to learning.

This role focuses on the primary age group (KS2), where learners may be working significantly below age-related expectations. Teaching here requires patience, creativity, and a holistic approach that prioritises emotional safety alongside academic progress. Staff work collaboratively to help each learner build confidence, develop regulation skills and re-engage positively with education.

    About the role:

Deliver nurturing, engaging and highly differentiated lessons for KS2 pupils
Support learners with a broad range of SEMH and SEND needs
Build strong, trusting relationships grounded in consistency and respect
Work with a dedicated team including TAs, pastoral staff, therapists and parents/carers
Use trauma‑informed strategies to promote positive behaviour, resilience and independence
Contribute to personalised learning plans and help pupils meet their EHCP outcomes
Maintain a calm, structured classroom environment that supports emotional regulation

    What We're Looking For:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant equivalent
Experience in SEMH or SEND settings, or strong SEND experience in mainstream
A reflective, resilient practitioner with excellent behaviour‑support skills
A calm, patient and empathetic approach
Ability to tailor learning to diverse needs, abilities and communication styles
Commitment to inclusive education and whole-child development

    To be eligible you must:

Hold Right to Work in the UK
Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service OR be willing to process a new application
Provide two professional child related references

If you would like to be considered for this role, please apply with a copy of your up to date CV.

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
