Head of Embedded Systems
Location: Cambridge
Salary: Up to £95,000 depending on experience (some flexibility for the right candidate)
We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Embedded Systems to join and lead embedded/electronics development for IoT products at an innovative Cambridge startup, managing a small team (2 engineers) while remaining hands-on with hardware and product development.
Key skills & Experience:
- 8+ years embedded / electronics engineering experience
- Hands-on PCB design – schematic capture, layout, prototyping & bench testing
- Embedded systems / IoT hardware development
- Strong hardware debugging (oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal analysis tools)
- Process improvement / continuous improvement within engineering or production
- Test jig design, component selection & PCB diagnostics
- Working with multidisciplinary teams (firmware, mechanical, software)
- Experience managing or mentoring a small engineering team
- Exposure to manufacturing partners / NPI / product release
Not purely hands-on, this is for someone who can get into the detail and set standards whilst building process and getting the best out of the people around them.
This role is based on-site in Cambridge and will involve international travel.
