CAD Programmer

£35,000 per annum
Full-time | 40 hours per week
The Company
We are recruiting for a CAD Programmer to join a well-established and growing sheet metal and laser cutting manufacturing business in Leicester.
This role would suit someone with experience in 2D CAD and SolidWorks, ideally from a laser cutting, sheet metal, or fabrication background, who enjoys turning engineering drawings into accurate CNC programs for production.
Working as part of a skilled engineering and fabrication team, you will be responsible for producing dimensionally accurate drawings, nesting components, and creating CNC programs for laser cutting and sheet metal manufacturing processes.
The Role
- Producing 2D CAD drawings and flat patterns using SolidWorks
- Programming CNC laser cutting machines within agreed production timescales
- Nesting drawings to maximise material usage and production efficiency
- Creating and maintaining accurate CAD/CAM programs for manufacturing
- Supporting the fabrication team with folding, forming and assembly instructions
- Reviewing and improving existing programs to increase efficiency and reduce waste
- Working closely with production teams to ensure smooth manufacturing processes
Experience Required
- Experience working as a CAD Programmer, CAD/CAM Programmer or similar
- Strong experience with 2D CAD and SolidWorks
- Background in laser cutting, sheet metal or fabrication
- Experience with CAD/CAM programming and nesting software
- Familiarity with Trumpf lasers is highly desirable
- Experience with Lantek, Oseon or TruTops software would be beneficial
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
