Intellectual Property Solicitor (Contentious Focus)
Overview
We are working with a leading national law firm, renowned for its strong intellectual property practice, to recruit an experienced IP Solicitor on a 6-month fixed-term contract. This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly regarded team handling complex and high-value IP matters for an impressive client base.
The role will primarily focus on contentious IP work, with some exposure to advisory matters, offering a well-rounded and engaging caseload.
The Role
You will join a busy and well-established IP team, working on a broad range of contentious matters while also supporting clients on non-contentious IP issues where required. The role offers exposure to high-quality work, alongside the opportunity to develop strong client relationships and contribute to the wider team.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a varied caseload of IP disputes, including trade marks, copyright, design rights, and passing off
- Advise on enforcement strategies and dispute resolution, including litigation, mediation, and settlement negotiations
- Draft legal correspondence, pleadings, and other court documents
- Work closely with senior lawyers on complex and high-value matters
- Provide advisory support on IP rights, portfolio management, and commercial exploitation of IP
- Assist clients with clearance, registration, and protection strategies
- Collaborate with colleagues across the wider commercial and disputes teams
- Build and maintain strong client relationships
Requirements
- Qualified solicitor with c. 3–10 years’ PQE
- Strong experience in intellectual property law, with a focus on contentious matters
- Experience in a reputable law firm with exposure to complex IP disputes
- Solid understanding of IP rights and enforcement strategies
- Excellent drafting, analytical, and communication skills
- Commercially minded with a proactive and client-focused approach
- Ability to manage a busy caseload and work effectively within a team
