    Job description

We’re Dalkia Engineering,— the nation’s leading technical services provider, designing and delivering intelligent engineering solutions that support the transition to Net Zero.

Backed by EDF, one of the world’s largest energy companies, we deliver complex, high‑value projects across energy infrastructure, specialist engineering and essential technical services. With over 4,000 experts and advisors across the UK, our strength lies in our people — their diverse skills, perspectives and commitment to innovation.

As the UK accelerates its low‑carbon hydrogen capabilities to support the Net Zero 2050 strategy, Dalkia Engineering is delivering EPC services on two major hydrogen production facilities in the Northwest of England (Barrow & Trafford).

We are seeking an experienced Document Controller to support these projects. In this role, you will manage all project documentation — ensuring accuracy, traceability and compliance with our engineering and quality standards. You will be the central coordination point for document control activities across the project team, suppliers and clients.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Coordinate all activities related to document control, including engineering documents, drawings and commercial correspondence
    • Organise, categorise and file documentation in line with Dalkia Engineering naming, numbering and quality standards
    • Issue and receive controlled documents, maintaining accurate logs of submissions, revisions and approvals
    • Prepare and manage electronic transmittals for internal teams, clients and supply chain partners
    • Produce progress reports for project leadership
    • Scan, archive and store project documentation in accordance with company policies
    • Ensure all information complies with project templates, procedures and quality requirements
    • Support the maintenance of the company’s content management system to ensure document integrity
    • Conduct routine document management tasks including metadata checks, TQ handling, filing and library management
    • Maintain accurate registers, trackers and action lists
    • Act as the focal point for all document management queries
    • Provide first‑line training and practical support to project team members
    • Assist with project administration tasks, including minute taking and coordination of meetings/events
    • Liaise with external reprographics services where required

    Skills & Experience

    • Previous Document Controller experience, ideally within engineering, construction or a multi‑discipline project organisation
    • Strong working knowledge of EDMS platforms (e.g. Viewpoint, 4Projects/Field View)
    • Excellent IT skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and database tools
    • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
    • Ability to maintain organised, auditable document trails
    • Strong communication and customer service skills
    • Able to work under pressure, adapt to change and use initiative effectively
    • Confident working with both digital and hard‑copy documentation
    • Able to collaborate and support colleagues across varied disciplines

    Qualifications

    • Relevant NVQ qualification
    • CSCS Skill Card
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
