    Job description

    Employment Associate (4+ PQE)

    Location: Glasgow

Firm/ Team: Top 50 UK Firm | L500 Ranked Employment Team | Widely Regarded National Practice

Salary: Generous Salary + Bonus + Excellent Benefits

    The Role & The Work

A Top 50 UK firm, widely regarded across Scotland and the wider UK, is seeking an Employment Solicitor (4+ PQE) to join its L500 ranked Employment team in Glasgow.

This is a standout opportunity for an experienced Employment lawyer to step into a role with real autonomy, high-quality advocacy work and a clear pathway for progression, all within a firm known for its down-to-earth, supportive culture.

The team advises a national client base of major employers, handling complex and high-value matters across a broad range of sectors. With continued growth in contentious work, there is a particular focus on Employment Tribunal advocacy, making this an ideal role for a solicitor who enjoys being on their feet and leading from the front.

You will take ownership of a mixed caseload, with a strong emphasis on tribunal work, including multi-day hearings involving discrimination, whistleblowing and unfair dismissal claims, as well as preliminary hearings and case management discussions. Alongside advocacy work, you will provide strategic, HR-focused advice, becoming a trusted adviser to clients navigating complex workplace issues.

What sets this role apart is the balance of independence and support. You will have the autonomy to manage your own matters and build your profile, while working within a collaborative team where Partners are approachable, invested and genuinely supportive of progression.

As a more senior member of the team, you will also play a role in mentoring junior lawyers, contributing to knowledge sharing and supporting the development of others, while being encouraged to get involved in business development, client training and networking.

For those with long-term ambitions, the firm offers a clear and achievable pathway to progression, with many senior lawyers having progressed internally. Whether your goal is to deepen your advocacy expertise, build a client following or ultimately progress towards Partnership, this role provides the platform and support to get there.

The culture is consistently highlighted as a key differentiator, with people who genuinely enjoy working together and take pride in what they do.

    Your Experience

    • Solicitor with 4+ years’ PQE in Employment Law
    • Strong experience in Employment Tribunal work, ideally including advocacy
    • Confident managing a varied caseload independently
    • Excellent technical knowledge across contentious and advisory employment matters
    • Strong communication and client relationship skills
    • Experience or interest in mentoring and supporting junior colleagues
    • Commercial, proactive and solutions-focused approach

    Why This Role?

    • Join a Top 50 UK firm with a strong national reputation
    • Be part of a L500 ranked Employment team
    • Significant exposure to Employment Tribunal advocacy and complex litigation
    • High level of autonomy with genuine support from senior lawyers
    • Opportunities to mentor juniors and contribute to team development
    • Clear and realistic pathway for progression, including Partnership
    • A friendly, down-to-earth culture where people genuinely enjoy working
    • Lucrative salary, bonus structure and comprehensive benefits package
