How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Join James Ray Recruitment as a Secondary School Food Technology Teacher – Maternity Cover (April Start)

    James Ray Recruitment are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Food Technology Teacher to support a secondary school in the Wirral on a maternity cover basis starting in April.

    With continued demand for high-quality teaching staff, this role offers an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact while ensuring continuity of learning during a key period.

    About the Role:

    As a Secondary School Food Technology Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and practical Food Technology lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.

    You will step into the classroom to cover a maternity leave position, maintaining high standards of teaching while supporting students in developing their understanding of nutrition, food preparation, and healthy living.

    Working within a supportive and well-equipped school environment, you will help create a positive and inclusive learning space, encouraging students to develop essential life skills, creativity, and confidence in the kitchen.

    What We're Looking For:

    • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
    • Experience teaching Food Technology at secondary level (KS3/KS4)
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    • A genuine passion for teaching and student success
    • Ability to adapt teaching methods to suit diverse learning styles
    • Effective classroom management skills
    • Commitment to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment
