    English Teacher – SEMH School
    Are you a QTS English Teacher looking for a rewarding opportunity to support students who face barriers to learning? Do you want to teach small groups where strong relationships and personalised learning can help young people re-engage with education? This SEMH school in South Birmingham is looking to appoint a dedicated English Teacher to teach students who have been excluded from mainstream education.

    As an English Teacher at this school, you will teach small groups of students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. You will deliver engaging and accessible English lessons that help students rebuild confidence, develop literacy skills and re-engage with learning. The school provides a structured and supportive environment where staff work closely together to ensure students feel safe, valued and motivated to succeed. Strong subject knowledge and experience teaching English up to GCSE is essential for this role.

    This role would suit a resilient and adaptable English Teacher who can build strong relationships, manage challenging behaviour and inspire students who may have had a negative experience of education. Previous experience working with SEMH needs or challenging behaviours is highly desirable.

    Job Role:

    Teaching English to small groups of students with SEMH needs
    Supporting students who have been excluded from mainstream education
    Planning and delivering engaging and differentiated lessons
    Building positive relationships to support engagement and behaviour
    Creating a structured and supportive classroom environment
    Supporting students to develop literacy, confidence and communication skills
    Working closely with support staff and pastoral teams
    Assessing, monitoring and recording student progressIn Return You Will:

    Teach small groups with strong staff-to-student ratios
    Work in a supportive and well-structured SEMH setting
    Be part of a dedicated and experienced staff team
    Receive ongoing support from leadership and pastoral staff
    Be paid to scale in line with experience up to MPS 6
    Gain valuable experience working with SEMH need
