How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    English Teacher / Instructor - Colne (Alternative Provision)

    Location: Colne, Lancashire

    Salary: £168.80 - ££261.78 (Dependent on experience)

    Contract Type: Full-Time, 5 Days Per Week

    Start Date: ASAP / Immediate

    The Opportunity

    Are you a resilient educator looking to make a genuine difference to the lives of vulnerable young people? We are seeking a dedicated English Teacher or Instructor to join our specialist team in Colne.

    This role is based within a highly supportive Alternative Provision (AP) catering to pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), with a specific focus on Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Every pupil at the school has an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP).

    Key Responsibilities

    Deliver a creative and engaging English curriculum tailored to small groups of learners (KS3/KS4).
    Adapt teaching methods to meet the individual learning requirements outlined in student EHCPs.
    Manage classroom behaviour with empathy, patience, and professional de-escalation techniques.
    Foster a safe, inclusive environment where students feel supported to re-engage with education.

    Requirements (Qualified or Unqualified)

    We prioritise the right personality and attitude for our students. We welcome applications from:

    Qualified Teachers (QTS/QTLS): English specialists looking to transition into a specialised SEND environment.
    Unqualified Teachers / Instructors: Individuals with a strong English background and significant experience in Youth Work, PRUs, or SEMH support.
    Essential Qualities: A calm, "unfazed" approach, and the ability to build strong rapport with learners who have faced barriers to education.
