How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Food Technology Teacher (Full-Time or Part-Time)

    Location: Secondary school in Southampton Start Date: September Contract: Long-Term or Permanent Pay Range: £168 – £250 per day (dependent on experience) Working Hours: 8:00 am – 4:00 pm (flexible for part-time applicants)

    Overview

    A vibrant and oversubscribed 11–16 secondary school in Southampton is seeking a Food Technology Teacher to join their Design & Technology department from September. The role is suitable for both experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers and can be offered on a full-time or part-time basis.

    You will teach Food Technology across Key Stages 3 and 4, contributing to a department that values creativity, practical learning, and high expectations. The school places strong emphasis on respect, pride, creativity and challenge, fostering a warm, supportive environment where staff and students work together as a community.

    Key Responsibilities

    Plan and deliver engaging, practical Food Technology lessons
    Teach across KS3 and KS4, including GCSE preparation
    Promote safe, hygienic practices and uphold health and safety procedures
    Assess, track and support student progress
    Contribute to the wider DT curriculum, enrichment activities and departmental planning
    Work collaboratively with colleagues across the department and school

    Requirements

    UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
    Experience teaching Food Technology at KS3 and ideally KS4
    Strong understanding of nutrition, food safety and practical food skills
    Good classroom management and communication skills
    A proactive, flexible and collaborative approach
